Sorry for the long post but I cannot repeat this often enough. People aren’t fully understanding the reasons WHY progressives are doing what they are doing, because it is so incredibly difficult to understand, and so completely foreign our concepts of justice going back to the bronze age. Judge Evans IS doing his job. His job as Chief Judge is social justice. Social justice explicitly believes that punishment and incarceration is one of many root causes of dysfunction in BIPOC communities. Evans is turning the idea of pre-trial detention on its head. Pretrial detention exists because, after a hearing, the court determines that the accused presents a danger to society, even though their case has not gone to trial. I’d say that violent carjackers, murders, child abusers, smash & grabbers, they all present a clear and present danger to society, and pretrial detention is warranted. But again, this goes back to the social justice belief that Western/Eurocentric/White concepts of jurisprudence are White Privilege, and white privilege must be eradicated from our justice system.
