Cook County courts mask mandate to remain in place, potentially through winter – Cook County Record

In a memo, Chief Judge Timothy Evans does not indicate precisely when or if the masking order might be relaxed or lifted. However, Judge Evans said Rachel Rubin, the CCDPH’s senior medical officer, “indicates that relaxing the policy might be warranted following and (sic) anticipated surge in COVID infections over the winter.”

Masks offer very little protection from respiratory viruses. Reduced oxygen and inhalation of carcinogenic plastics are more concerning to me than the virus. Seems despite the order many are not complying.

I’m in CPS and schools are still covid testing and recommending masks. When all the teachers who are still wearing them decide not to then maybe the atmosphere of worry and anxiety will be eliminated. Why would they want to do that though…

I’ve been to the courthouse this year for a traffic ticket and to get some other documents. They give you a mask when you walk to wear, but after you pass through security, no one is wearing them. For my traffic court case, no one had on a mask and the courtroom was packed. The bailiff walked in, not wearing a mask, told everyone that the Chief Judge Evans requires masks of all people in the court house, and then he sat back down, again, himself not wearing a mask. This judge does not know the law – no surprise there. He does not have the authority to keep this implemented. He is violating the law and people’s constitutional rights.
