CPS Cancels Nov. 12 Classes to Give Kids Chance to Get COVID Vaccine – WTTW (Chicago)

The school district will hold a “Vaccine Awareness Day,” which combined with Veterans Day on Thursday will give CPS students a four-day weekend. “CPS’ decision to close schools and give all school staff paid time off is welcome relief from the stress of trying to protect and educate students without the resources to address their needs,” CTU President Jesse Sharkey said. “But we cannot stop here. Our students are crying out for support in every way possible.”

CTU members got taste of “no work for full pay” during Covid lockdown, want to establish a permanent “pay guaranteed; work optional” environment. State legislators are certainly assisting, with their recent “no cap Family Covid Leave for teachers” legislation. What City Hall created (ghost worker legacy) now comes to haunt every governmental agency in Chicago and Cook County. “No work for full pay” seems operative goal of Chicago’s public-sector unions.

Sharkey probably has a rebellion on his doorstep. The teachers are back in school and don’t like it! We’d better stand down for a week the schools need a deep cleaning.

I hope CPS has a plan to measure the vaccination uptake on Nov 12. Seriously, not only how many parents will use that day to vax their kids but how many will be able to make appointments to get the shot.

That’s great, CPS gets a paid day off and every working parent has to take an unpaid day off.

CPS teacher here… I’m surrounded by lunatics. We have a staff meeting this morning… by video conferemce. WE ARE ALL GOING TO BE IN THE BUILDING!

How about „Education Awareness Day”? You know, like Monday through Friday, for the next 30 weeks or so.

We have destroyed an entire generation of children. They will never recover from this academically, socially, or psychologically. And I’m generally an optimist.

You sound sincerely concerned. Just look at it as extreme busy signaling. They’ve wrecked everything for money that buys power. Power and money corrupt everything.

If you are truly concerned about your students future there are alternatives. They can use Khan academy and catch up quickly.

That’s one huge reason why I’m moving to Australia.
Aside from US Instability, soaring crime, 30 Trillion in debt. The failing education system in this country will have long term implications and the damage being done will be felt even by those that don’t have kids.
These uneducated kids are much more likely to get sucked into a life of crime, violence and terrorizing others. In addition to harassing, cancelling and being uncivilized to the highest degree.

Australia is an open air covid prison. That place has gone insane. Maybe you mean Austria not Australia.

The destruction began in the 60’s with Pres. Johnson’s war on poverty. We have seen the ruin of multiple generations of blacks as Uncle Sam out-bid black men for the right to raise their children. The middle class is gone from CPS. They will never recover!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
