This expansion of sustainable community schools (SCS) from 20 to 36 locations — costing $500,000 per school annually— is rolling out as CPS continues to lay off staffers and cut services to close a $734 million budget deficit in the next two weeks. Skeptics of the model want more data and community input in the SCS process as well as scrutiny over ties between partner organizations and the CTU.

CPS needs to lay off TEACHERS and lots of them, with declining enrollment and more than 1/2 empty schools some with more staff than students costing in excess of 100K per student who still can’t read or write at grade level (or in many cases AT ALL)

CPS needs to focus on improving education and student tests scores, not far left, progressive policies. Stop wasting money that they don’t have.
