The Chicago Teachers Union is in negotiations with the district over health and safety measures for the fall and had pushed for universal masking to stay in place. The union’s initial proposal also included an 80% student vaccination goal.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Suing or filing OSHA complaints will result in the District and perhaps the Union hiring lawyers. Who do we think pays for those lawyers? At the District level it comes out of the revenues collected from tax payments. The longer the suit lasts, the more appeals that are filed, the greater the hits on the school budget and the ultimate cost is borne by the taxpayers. Does anyone disagree? This is hilarious! Porky is going to LaLa because he says it’s safe if you’re vaccinated! CPS demands masks regardless of vaccination status. Who will be the enforcement arm of CPS? The cops won’t be there. Is this an over abundance of caution or simple capitulation to CTU.
