CTU Files Unfair Labor Practice Complaint Against Chicago Public Schools Following Decision To Lift Mask Mandate – CBS2 (Chicago)

Mayor Lori Lightfoot late Monday tweeted out a letter to CTU president Jesse Sharkey, saying among other things that discussions the mask policy and all COVID-19 mitigation measures were based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Illinois Department of Public Health. The mayor wrote that those recommendations have changed, and so should the agreement.

So, the “educators” don’t understand the data that suggests the VAST majority of masks didn’t do a thing? They don’t understand acquired or natural immunity? They don’t understand the immeasurably negative impact this has had on their STUDENTS?

How on earth do they think they are worthy of any respect?

Doesn’t an unfair labor practice complaint imply that some labor is actually being done ?

“Our union will immediately be filing an unfair labor practice (ULP) charge against the district in response, and requesting that CPS bargain over this decision — a decision that impacts nearly 400,000 students, educators and school staffers in Chicago.”

But CTU, it impacts 400,000 students in a positive way! Wow CTU seems to think they “represent” everyone in the system including the students. The students are free boys and girls not under CTU.

They say that children under 5 are particularly vulnerable, I though they had minimal risk. It seems to me the grand plan is to extend covid restrictions as long as possible with the ultimate goal of 100% remote learning. I say let them go 100% remote, at that point it shouldn’t be too hard to replace them.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
