Darren Bailey launches second bid for Illinois governor – WGNTV (Chicago)

Conservative downstate framer Darren Bailey on Thursday kicked off another bid for Illinois governor with the same theme: Fire Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. “People just can’t afford to live and work here. Pritzker has caused all that, and I think we’re going to bring the cure,” Bailey said. WGN's video report here.

No chance in Hell will the greedy public sector allow him to win.

Why Bailey picked a former Hillary Clinton supporter in Aaron Del Mar is simply amazing.
Not only that, Del Mar was Gary Rabine’s running mate last time, so Bailey thinks he’s going to win with the running mate of the guy he defeated in the Primary last time around?

“framer” good one. He sure is not a farmer but a grifter sucking on the federal teat. speaking of grifters, I see wirepoints no longer has money and needs to do more doom grifting. LULZ

IL didn’t want him last time. IL needs a credible Republican candidate.

If JB truly spent in that range for Bailey, I can’t wait to see how much he ponies up for Ted!

Look at Bailey’s running mate – he was the Chicago Dem campaign advisor for Hillary Clinton. Enough said. You don’t escape the “firm” and then turn on them.

Good for him, I guess. But he’s got no chance to win, even if the Dem’s made the Gerrymandering more fair. I hope the Republican party can find a viable candidate.

Gerrymandering doesn’t matter for a state-wide office.

It does matter in that even if a Republican can win the governorship, he will be faced with a state assembly that is the result of gerrymandering. The gerrymandered state assembly effectively negates a Republican win statewide. Like Rauner. Heads I win, tails you lose.

How many votes does he think he’ll get in the six county area? Answer. If every voter outside the six counties voted for him, he’d still lose. Go back to your little niche farm and drink a dose of reality.

Pritzker’s campaign people must be laughing their heads off.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
