Thankfully the “real Republicans” have defeated the “RINOs”. IL will now be assured of a mediocre/bad governor rather than a bad/horrible/nuts governor. Illinois isn’t even a purple state anymore. Nominating unelectable candidates is not the path to fixing the real issues of the IL Republican party.

And your logic is why Republicans won’t ever win in Illinois.
So you rather have Pritzker as Governor than a Mitt Romney type of Republican?

I think you misread. I don’t believe there are any Romney types in IL. Nor Sununus, nor Hogans. But IL does have “true conservative” MAGA types. That don’t have a chance in a once purple, now mostly blue state. Lower taxes, more guns, less abortion won’t come close to filling all the holes that have been dug by current & previous R & D elected politicians.

Pritzker and the public unions got exactly what they wanted. Voter focus in Nov on an existential threat—djt and his extremists.

When your airplane is crashing, you focus on that and you focus later on your high blood pressure. Nice work.

The national environment for D’s is so bad, so so bad, that it might even turn IL MAGA in the mid-terms. Right now there’s two R strategies nationwide: MAGA and RINO. The RINO strategy in IL failed us with Rauner and failed us with Irvin. The only choice left is MAGA even though Trump LOST IL by a million votes. We’ll see how well MAGA works in a mid-term when turnout is lower, and during a red wave that looks bigger than anything I’ve seen in my life time. I hope Proft etc is right about this because we’re literally… Read more »

Don’t underestimate the parents of all the HS kids that were locked out of school and those that couldn’t play sports or have any school activities. With any luck, they remember how they continue to torture the youth in Illinois and instead actually do what is right for kids and the state. This downward spiral is going all the way to he@@ unless the voters stop it now.

Apparently the GOP hasn’t learned the simple fact:
The further right your nominee is the lower share of the vote they will get.
But hey enjoy 4 more years of Pritzker. You sure showed Irvin.

The left has thrown the Overton window off a cliff. They label anyone even slightly to the right of center as “far right” because they have no answer for the sensible policies people on the right favor. Not buying into it any more.

Keep telling yourself that.
If the left claimed Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney was far right then you would have a point.
However neither of them are considered far right.

Those comments are kind of funny coming from someone with a name that suggests Indianapolis. With a Dem mayor you could be looking at the same mess as Illinois. It spreads like wildfire once it starts. The only thing saving the state is the R’s that fight back. Take it from Illinois, it had more than just a few Rs once upon a time.

Irvin didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell being a pandering BLM apologist. He’s otherwise a decent guy but he’s week and caved to hysteria. We remember that seeing him on TV while Aurora burned. Ive personally had dealings with Aurora on development plans that fell through because the city pushed the developer too hard so downtown remains a vacant wasteland as it has been for 25 years. People want to throw a nuclear bomb into the system, this is how you do it, just like with Trump. If it doesn’t work this time then next time. But they arent… Read more »

Replacing incompetent “RINOs” with insane “true conservatives” is a thing, I guess. Doesn’t win elections in a blue state.

No I think you are missing the point. Electing Rinos and weak Edgar type Republicans is how we got into this mess and will just continue it. The center is moving right. Let the freak show Socialists move further and further left. They own the present but have no future. Their base is childless LGBTQ’s, aging hippies and minorities who are increasingly skeptical of the platform. The suburban soccer moms are the true battlefield and have been since the 90s. I fear however most soccer moms would rather move to FL or AZ to escape the disaster than vote R.… Read more »

Even if Bailey doesn’t win in November, he can still keep his part time job as a Drew Carey impersonator.

Chicago Teachers Union contract demands are totally divorced from reality – Wirepoints

Details emerging about Chicago Teachers Union’s upcoming contract show just how divorced its demands, both extreme and expensive, are from the reality at Chicago schools. It’s not just about massive salary increases, but also about money for migrant students, climate initiatives, abortions and gender-affirming care. About blocking parental notification. Count on CTU’s demands to veer further from reality until the public finally says no.

Gov. Pritzker’s ‘ethics reform’ eliminates competitive elections and choice for voters – Wirepoints on AM 560 Chicago’s Morning Answer

Ted joined Dan and Amy to talk about a new law passed by the Democratic supermajority and signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker that results in brazen election interference, keeping Republicans off ballots; about a referendum that tests the waters for a renewed progressive income tax hike; about how the Parental Notification referendum question was knocked off the ballot; and why laws like that pass so easily.

Chicago needs more champions of literacy like Willie Wilson – Wirepoints

It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. So it’s refreshing to see Willie Wilson, a successful businessman and leader of the black community, call for a literacy initiative “with the goal of getting 100% of Black students reading at grade level.”
