“For every kid that gets placed, there are hundreds of kids behind that kid waiting for a bed,” said Cook County Public Guardian Charles Golbert. “And this is gonna continue to go on and on until DCFS creates the placements and the services that it needs for its children.” Golbert says DCFS is currently short more than 500 beds.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
