The Clerk’s Office is the official record keeper for death certificates, birth certificates, and marriage licenses for the five million people residing in Cook County. All certified copies have Karen Yarbrough’s name on them, which is fine. But new certificates issued must be switched over to her interim replacement.
It used to be that death and taxes were the only certainties in life. Now, it may only be taxes, because are you really dead if there’s no death certificate?

Obviously, the requirement should be done away with. It’s just incumbents promoting themselves.
I agree, but it’s pretty common practice throughout America to have the elected official’s name certify the authenticity of a vital record.
Somebody can’t find a Bic pen to sign off on certs?
