Democratic National Convention to tout education policy near Chicago school where no kids read at grade level – Illinois Policy

A few miles from where Harris will accept her party’s presidential nomination is Collins Career Academy. Not a single student there can read at grade level. It’s not an issue of whether Chicago or Illinois follows the Democrats’ admonition to spend more on public schools. Collins spends $27,000 per student. Chicago Public Schools averages $18,287 per student.

Amazing.. $27K per student and not one student reads at grade level. That is stunning. Ironically, we have to listen to the CTU criminals and Harris tell us how wonderful everything in education is and why we all need to pony up more cash for the Kids. This should be the Poster Child example of why everything we hear from them is a lie.

YOU CAN’T POLISH A TURD BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS ADD A SPLASH OF GLITTER AND CALL IT A MASTERPIECE.

Illinois politicians are expert at spritzing the world with a coat of sparkle to distract from the underlying stench. They convince their voters (at least the 20% that turn out) that reality is dazzling, even when it’s a fairy tale, blissfully out of touch with the real world.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
