Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
They can have CHI/ Cook County as far as most people south of the county line are concerned. I guess that a king on a hill of crap is still considered a king.
As I frequently lament, we live in an illusion of democracy. The candidates and their positions are predetermined. The voters are casting empty ballots for a race that was decided long ago by party elders. The citizens who vote Democrat in Cook County would be like Luke Skywalker voting for Darth Vader. Democrats are not the resistance. They are the Empire
How pathetic is it that Chicago politicians are not wasting their time campaigning in their districts so they stump for candidates in other states? How many are running unopposed so they a a shoe in? Do they know now how many votes will be cast for them? How much money is being spent by the governor to get other candidates elected in other states? I would like to see them losing their own races and those they campaigned for in Wisconsin also lose. Maybe in an alternate universe or even there they are running unopposed.
Not content with destroying Illinois, they’re plying their trade in Michigan.
It’s so depressing I just skim thru or don’t bother to reading articles like this. I guess what dopey taxpayer/voters are supposed to get excited about is that there’s somehow a difference between old school Madigan machine types and “new machine” progressives. There’s no difference. They’re all the same pay-to-play self serve ghouls.
And they will get it. Without a doubt. The slaves are compliant, pacified and even willing. I’m sure that more democrats with no opposition will make the much needed changes that Cook county needs. Nothing ever changes in Cook County.
