Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. And this is why Illinois voters continue to vote for democrats and why I will continue to place the blame at the feet of the voters. “The federal Real ID rollout has caused a great deal of confusion across the country, including here in Illinois,” Giannoulias said in an April news release. See democrats give the lazy and incompetent voters of Illinois exactly what they want. It’s not the voters fault they waited until the las possible minute even though they had six years to get a REAL ID. Giannoulias lets them know it’s someone else’s fault and they are… Read more »
Giannoulias characterized the secretary’s actions as incompetence and cruelty. He spoke about a woman who waited hours to get a Real ID Monday.
“When I saw her face, I saw nothing but fear and horror,” Giannoulias said. What a clown show IL government is.
This whole “manufactured crisis” reminds me of the pre – internet days when the media would be flooded with stories on the eve of April 15th tax day, with desperate people hurrying to get their tax returns in the mailbox and postmarked by the filing deadline, lol…
This isfrom my hometown area, Aledo IL, in rural West – Central Illinois (Mercer County, south of the Quad CIties), they are apparently getting even some folks from Chicago, lol…!!! Real ID Demand Sends Big-City Residents To Small-Town Aledo https://wrmj.com/real-id-demand-sends-big-city-residents-to-small-town-aledo/ “With new federal Real ID requirements now in place, smaller DMVs in Illinois are suddenly becoming popular destinations—especially the one in Aledo… The Mercer County facility is seeing visitors from across the state, including metro areas like Chicago, drawn by reports of shorter lines and more personal service. Aledo Police Chief Trevor Fisk says it’s no surprise the word has… Read more »
Chicagoans are stupid, this has been coming for 6 years. Now we have video of one very small DMV office in the Loop flooded with surprised citizens. There are many Sec. of State locations throughout Illinois that can accommodate their applications with far less hassle than that downtown location.
Firstly I must say Real ID is a joke – when you look at the exclusions/ substitutes for a Real ID, it’s not very secure. Secondly my experience with the IL DMV was excellent – of course I brought all the proper paperwork proving I was a U.S. citizen and resident. Very straight forward application process. If you are trying to game the system, I could see many problems.
I applied for a Real ID about 6 years ago at the Chicago Hts DMV; received it just by speaking perfect midwest English! Relocated to southern state after retiring and the it required a passport ID. Forty five years back my engineering employer required a DOD secret clearance which I got within a week after fingerprinting. So what is the big deal? Colin Powell even stated inadvertently that the purpose of the SSN was facilitating easier tracking of individuals.
I don’t hear these type of complaints coming from folks living in Indiana, perhaps due to the fact they don’t issue licenses to Illegals and have been issuing real IDs for years.
Absolutely spot on. The Blue State delay was all about stealing elections.
Real ID originated in post 911 legislation. Democrats kept fighting and delaying it because they wanted to coddle their beloved criminal illegal immigrants and not disrupt the voter registration of criminal illegal immigrants. Illinois in particular dragged their feet hoping that a 20 year delay could turn into a 30 year delay and more elections be stolen in the meantime.
The Real ID issue has been around for a couple of years plenty of time to do something about it like making an appointment and taking an hour or so to get one, and now the deadline is here and panic ensues. Just quit complaining.
