Despite opposition, CO2 pipelines are pushing forward in Illinois. Here’s what’s next – Peoria Journal Star

Legislation introduced during the now-concluded Illinois General Assembly spring session could address some of those concerns. The Carbon Dioxide Transport and Storage Protections Act, listed under Senate Bill 2421 and House Bill 3119, did not advance out of their respective chambers but could be moved during veto session in late October.  Bill sponsor Rep. Ann Williams said work is ongoing to strike the right balance between a burgeoning industry and needed environmental safeguards.

“Climate change is not happening. There is no significant man-made global warming now, there hasn’t been any in the past, and there is no reason to expect any in the future. It has become a big political part of the Democratic party. The government puts out about $2.5 million dollars directly for climate research every year. It only gives that money to scientists who will produce scientific results that support the global warming hypothesis of the Democratic party. So they don’t have any choice. If you are going to get the money, you need to support their position. Therefore 97%… Read more »

“You have to have a different sense of time than just going back to 1850. And that’s what these people are saying. Beginning in 1850, we started using fossil fuels and now there is a climate crisis. It’s complete balderdash, there is nothing to it, it is a hollow husk of an idea. And it is being perpetrated by politicians, who want a scare story to get the vote. Hmmm planning to ‘pipe’ a gas consumed by plants and produced by members of the animal kingdom including these political dim-wit blow-hards who release it every time they talk. Here is a two-for idea. We could hook their mouth up to the pipe then we wouldn’t have to listen to them lie (I mean talk) and we could capture their CO2 laden hot air simultaneously!

CO2 hatred is a religious belief; like Satan, CO2 is an ever present and invisible gas that threatens to seduce them to sin. The original sin is fossil fuels, and by banishing the CO2 of the past and present, they can atone for their sins against Mother Earth.

Of course, they don’t see it this way, they just call it ‘science’; but we are all aware of their religious fervor when discussing the evil of CO2.

Another very expensive waste of money on an unproven technology. What politicians family members have companies involved in this boondoggle?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
