Despite tourist shooting, Johnson remains opposed to 8 p.m. curfew for unaccompanied minors downtown – Chicago Sun-Times

During Tuesday’s news conference on summer jobs, Mayor Brandon Johnson pretty much came clean about the political motive behind his more lenient approach. “I won by roughly 26,562 votes. And there were 27,000 new voters that voted in April that did not vote in February,” he said, comparing the voter turnouts in rounds one and two of the 2023 mayoral sweepstakes. “I’m mayor of the city of Chicago because of young people. ... So if there is anybody that I owe and I have to show up for, it’s for the people who know that this city is better, stronger and safer when our young people are loved and supported and invested in.”

My theory is Brandon wants Chicago to become so toxic as to destroy residential home-sales on north-side, so his perceived constituents (CTU teachers and woke college grads) can finally afford to buy a cheap house or condo in a hip neighborhood on a $90,000 household dual-income. He’s getting there, shooting by shooting, carjacking by carjacking, to his goal.

That’s called the democratic way of winning elections – stuff ballot boxes with absentee ballots.

At our Streeterville polling site, election-workers hyper-scrutinize senior citizens’ addresses, ask for address verifications perhaps to disqualify snowbirds who are furtive Republicans. (Remember, Vallas won 60611.) An elderly woman in our building, registered for two decades, said she had been deleted from printed list of poll-station registered voters, though her address unchanged. Fortunately she had delivered mail with her to note address as unchanged.
