Dick Durbin’s Plan to ‘Fix’ Credit Cards – Wall Street Journal

"Dick Durbin has a knack for rehashing old mistakes, which is why he wants to stomp on the credit-card business. The Illinois Senator is pushing a bill in Congress’s lame-duck session that would shift the cost of processing card transactions from retailers to consumers. If it passes, rewards programs could vanish as they did with debit cards."

Durbin is a disgusting individual who has done nothing for the people of Illinois and has not served the people of the United States with dignity. A left wing advocate who has slurred the military, police officers and conservatives because of his ultra slanted left wing ideology. His reputation and legacy are failure and disgust.

Ya know, I read this and thought…wow, the DICK must really hate the people of Illinois or could he really be this stupid….perhaps both.

What a buffoon. Processing fees aren’t a great source of infation… Let’s look at prices and determine which slices of the pie have been increasing – pretty sure the merchant fees aren’t the problem.

DD, just go away. If ever there was a poster child for term limits – other than JB or JB, this guy is exhibit A. Or KH asking for a promotion to do the job she didn’t for 4 years…

Clowns… The only economics DD understands is the one that lines his pockets.

Durbin likes to lobby for career criminals to be released from life sentences in jail so that they can kill an innocent person in a road rage incident. Durbin wants to grant leniency to the 9/11 terrorists. Durbin needs to go, and take fellow Marxist Ducksworth with him.

As usual Durbin is focused on the wrong issue. He is amazingly consistent in his ability to miss the point. Processing fees aren’t the issue Dickie boy! Most people use credit cards as a convenience and to earn the points reward points, which hopefully translate to cash. It’s those customers that actually carry a balance that are getting hosed. The interest rates on credit cards are ridiculously high, and produce big time profits. I feel for people who actually use credit cards to stay afloat. Of course, if Congress were to act to control interest rates, banks would cutoff access… Read more »

I’m sure that all retailers will pass on the savings to consumers. I know they had discussed taxing reward points in the past.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
