Chicago already has a third airport. It’s in Gary, Indiana. All of the airport infrastructure of railroads, highways and even Amtrak are already in place. The NIMBY airport noise complainers are minimized by the Lake Michigan proximity and its not really landlocked; its adjacent to former industrial land refashioned as a “nature preserve”. If Indiana state officials have a brain – and compared to the criminal cabal in Illinois they certainly do have a brain – they will fund further development of Gary Airport.
