Donut-spinning drivers create chaos again, damaging 6 CPD squad cars in “sideshows” across the city – CWB Chicago

After donut-spinning drivers shut down intersections in the Loop and Near South Side for “sideshows” early Saturday, the sideshows tripled in size and became even more destructive on Sunday. In one case around 3 a.m. in the 600 block of West Cermak, a group of sideshow participants threw rocks, fireworks, and bricks at patrol cars, the police spokesperson said.

They will take action if there’s a fatality. I remember in my youth Skips drive in on North Ave in Melrose park. They’d block off North Ave from Thatcher to 1st Ave (171) for drag racing. Thatcher woods was just behind Skips. When the cops raided Skips everyone would flee into the woods like a POW breakout

Shut that baloney down now. Call in the military if needed. This is more than outrageous–get this city back in control. Find, prosecute and imprison offenders.

Well if there was a chance these guys (who obviously have no regard for public safety) could lose their drivers license, have their vehicle impounded and God forbid actually spend some real-time in the pokey then I don’t see any end to this “new” quality of life issue.

Kim, when you reward bad behavior you get more of it. It really should be an easy concept for you to grasp.

Lil Kim views this as harmless activity. It is actually good behavior by the boys and girls. She’ll be handing out trophies to them soon enough.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
