Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. They will take action if there’s a fatality. I remember in my youth Skips drive in on North Ave in Melrose park. They’d block off North Ave from Thatcher to 1st Ave (171) for drag racing. Thatcher woods was just behind Skips. When the cops raided Skips everyone would flee into the woods like a POW breakout

Well if there was a chance these guys (who obviously have no regard for public safety) could lose their drivers license, have their vehicle impounded and God forbid actually spend some real-time in the pokey then I don’t see any end to this “new” quality of life issue.
