Dozens of sheriffs want no role in enforcing state’s assault weapon registry – Capitol News IL

“If I pull somebody over for speeding going 65 in a 55, and I don’t write them a ticket, does that mean I’m not enforcing (the law)?” Illinois Sheriffs’ Association head Jim asked. “And I know we’re talking apples to oranges here, but…my point on this is that officers have discretion. We don’t arrest everybody we could or else our jails would be totally overrun.”

Yet … Illinois chooses which federal laws they do and don’t follow.

Examples: Governor Pritzker chooses to ignore federal marijuana laws, abet illegal immigration, and refuse cooperation with ICE.

Locally: Kim Foxx and Tim Evans decide which IL laws to follow and which to ignore – with impunity. They claim ‘discretion,’ but deny that same discretion to law enforcement.

Hypocrites: “Don’t do as I do, do as I say.”

As we see unfold Pritzker’s lust for power over our lives did not stop at his various masking mandates. We are now in stage two of his ever expanding desire to return to a feudal state of centuries ago where he is the king and we, the population, his serfs.
Life goes on in Illinois…

Sanctuary state for illegal immigrants and non-cooperation with federal immigration authorities!

Sanctuary counties for AR-15s and other standard issue guns and non-cooperation with state authorities!

I don’t see any difference between the two. Please enlighten me why JB’s sanctuary status is GOOD but the local Sheriff’s sanctuary status is BAD.

Marijuana is still illegal federally, last time I checked. Now these goofballs are going for magic mushrooms too. LOL I’m sure I could think of more contradictions with a little bit of time.

Its called discretion whether to issue a citation or a warning. The states attorney Kim Foxx uses her discretionary powers ALL the time to not charge crimes or reduce serious felonies to slap of the wrist misdemeanors. The difference is she is a darling of the democrats and most of the sheriffs are Republicans.

No serious person believes that Aunt Kimmy is going to enforce these new gun laws against her voters. As it is right now, a UUW (unlawful use of a weapon) which is possessing a gun without a FOID card, for the most part, is a misdemeanor or a class 4 felony, depending on the circumstances. She, for the most part, drops all UUW charges against her voters, because she doesn’t want to saddle young black men with a criminal history, and destroy their future, for the non-violent crime of carrying a gun without a FOID card. She actually said this.… Read more »

Why should any government employee obey the laws or do the job they are paid to do?
Never happened before why should anyone expect a government employee to do what they are paid to do??? All government employees are nothing but a waste of taxpayer money.
I work in the private sector, and you must perform you job or you will not have a job. Chitty of Chicago cops only do paperwork, never do they stop crime and look at sale brochures for luxury homes in Punta Gorda.

Do you know a screen repair service in Punta Gorda? The screens over the pool and lanai need replacement. You seem to know a lot about PG.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
