Durbin, Duckworth among Democratic senators urging Biden to allow states to sponsor noncitizens to expand workforce – The Hill

Text of letter linked here. "[I]n recent years, our nation has experienced a significant increase in migration to our southern border. Many migrants are ready, capable, and willing to meet our nation's workforce needs. Recent analysis demonstrates that a rebound in immigration in the last year has helped ease labor supply pressures."

Expand the population of future welfare supported Democrat voters is what this amounts to.

If these illegals were qualified for any type of responsible job, such as electrician, plumber, etc., they wouldn’t have left their home country. Why aren’t the labor unions howling because the jobs they take will come from union laborers? About the only jobs they will qualify for will be cutting lawns and cleaning tables. Or, off the books jobs that wouldn’t meet building codes or other regulations. What jobs around your house or business would you want these people to do, especially with the language barrier?

There are able bodied people, citizens and noncitizens alike, receiving public aid, healthcare, food, education, general assistance, and charity. Durbin and Duckworth have no problem with these people not working – they’ve both repeatedly voted against any form of ‘workfare’.

So how many ditch digging, house keeping, landscaping, and wrench turning jobs are there in Chicago going unfilled? Maybe some of the establishment types here who have bought into the nuttiness of all this can explain that?

Eliminate welfare and there will be plenty of Americans seeking work. Democrats working for a living instead of voting for a living…a new concept.

Illinois has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and the two stooges want to have illegals take available jobs? Genius!

It seems Senators Durbin, Duckworth, Warren et al haven’t seen the stories about their “workforce” sleeping on the floor of police stations. They missed the letters from mayors insisting that border states stop sending “workforce” members to their cities.

And do these senators wonder why so many of the refugees are from Venezuela, where 20 years ago the voters elected Chavez? The man who ran on a platform almost identical to what the progressives want to implement here?

Maybe while Kamala is working on root causes, she can examine the recent history of Venezuela.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
