it is fascinating how the people who are quick to label environmental policy as climate change hoax are the same ones who so often pointedly ignore the true elephants in the room-religious institutions and corporations which take in billions a year yet pay zero taxes. as Warren Buffet recently pointed out, if corporations paid their fair share the average person would not need to pay a dime in income taxes. and of course the late, great George Carlin exposed decades ago how religion is the biggest grift in human history- “has actually convinced people that there is an invisible man,… Read more »

Corporations don’t and have never paid taxes. Their customers do. Hiking corporate taxes is simply an act of political cowardice by leveraging envy, since the political animals suggesting doing so assume the chumbolones won’t make the connection. The useless media certainly won’t reveal it. The same urchins demanding higher corporate taxes also cry like children over the new tariffs and their effect on prices. The Religion of Climate falls apart when the temperatures fail to follow the models, as they have failed to do so. When the Cliimate Clerics have a .000 batting average in predicting temperatures, it’s time to… Read more »

just because they never have paid taxes does not mean that they should continue to not do so. Buffett’s quote on the subject is as follows: “If we send in a check like we did last year, we sent in over $5 billion to the US federal government. And if 800 other companies had done the same thing, no other person in the United States would have had to pay a dime of federal taxes, whether income taxes, no Social Security taxes, no estate taxes.” i think you may be projecting by conflating climate change science with religion since 97%… Read more »

Umm.. religious organizations and corporations don’t take my tax dollars and squander them over and over again on failed green technologies with the help of the IL government.

they do take your tax dollars though since they don’t pay tax on income themselves thereby requiring your income to be taxed.

It is gratifying to see the Climate Religion fall to pieces as the hoax and grift it always was. Climate Cleric and Trust Fund Baby JB the Hutt remains a faithful devotee of this discredited faith. His complete isolation from real world concerns should surprise no one. The Hutt cleric seems to be bent on turning Madiganistan into a Midwestern Cuba, where the government gives out free stuff and taxes everything into oblivion all while electricity is available for no more than two hours per day. His Pharasitic professions of faith and fielty to nebulous tenets of the Climate Religion… Read more »

This man is absolutely clueless. Out of touch. So insulated from real life, that he cannot even conceptualize real life for us peasants. It looks like he thinks that if he keeps repeating this claptrap it will be so…as if he has that level of control on the world. Just go away Jumbo, we need serious people in office.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
