Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I have no loyalties to Israel, don’t see why we have to solve their Hamas problems with our money or our military. Calling for a cease fire in any conflict to me sounds like a reasonable thing to do. But democrats and republicans are one in the same when it comes to wars.

Look, at least Raggedy Brandon and Chicago’s unindicted aldermen have a sense of humor, calling for a ceasefire halfway across the globe while doing nothing about their own city’s violence. Oh, well, I’m sure they’ll address it by August’s Democratic National Convention.
