Editorial: Apparent flameout of Bring Chicago Home is an opportunity for Mayor Johnson – Chicago Tribune*

"'We want to work with the city to find real solutions that benefit neighborhood housing and grow Chicago’s supply of naturally occurring affordable housing,' said Michael Glasser, president of the Neighborhood Building Owners Alliance. We wish we could say the same about the activists and other supporters of Bring Chicago Home, who generally reacted by pinning the blame on opponents’ efforts to defeat the measure rather than acknowledging the obvious problem."

The Trib is a worthless paper and they are contributing to the destruction of Chicago.
Any one who believes otherwise is mistaken. The Trib has joined the “usual gang of idiots”
who will make Chicago look like Haiti, Tic-Toc the clock is running down..

I think this was a good editorial, which is generally true about the editorials vs. the news side at the Tribune. Steve Daniels from Crain’s recently joined the editorial board and he’s got some common sense, making a big difference. The Tribune’s news pages are reasonably good on Chicago government, but as bad as you say on other matters. Most conspicuous is their selection of national stories, which is obviously done, like most MSN, to promote the left flagrantly using crap from the AP and NYT. And they never lay a hand on JB.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
