Sorry Trib, City Hall is not taking wake up calls at this time, and for the next 100 years.

Wake up call? Simply, what that means is the low-info folks who run this state and city will offer TAX BREAKS to incentivize business to move here…

To which I respond, how has giving away freebies worked thus far?

Suddenly, the Tribune discovers that crime in the central business district is chasing profitable businesses out of Chicago. Didn’t the paper abandon Tribune Tower on Michigan Ave. years ago?

Nothing, let me repeat, nothing gets City Hall’s attention, except perhaps a juicy campaign contribution.

The people running this country, state, county, city lack self-awareness and accept no responsibility … Trump did it, Putin did it, Rauner did it, Republicans did it, systemic racism, equity, White supremacy, etc.

Vote the bums out!

Chicago is a gift to Republicans. Anytime I hear a bleeding heart liberal complain about conservatives, I ask them to explain the disaster that is Chicago. It has been run exclusively by Democrat super majorities for over 70 years, and yet it is heavily segregated, extremely violent, poorly educated and fiscally insolvent. Well done liberals!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
