Editorial: Donald Trump should stop insulting Chicago and support the police – Editorial – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo News

"We remind the president, apparently a wannabe mayor, that there is no Section 740 (a) that could be applied to Chicago, Illinois, and therefore he does not have the authority to bring in federal forces of any kind to take over law and order on our streets and he should make no such attempt."

As a downstater with no recent visits to Chicago I am not really qualified to opine on this issue but from what I read I am inclined to agree with Trump regarding his opinions of the current state of Chicago’s affairs.

You live and pay taxes in the communist state of Illinois. You have every right to submit your opinion. What you are not affected with now may flow into your part of town any time.

Cage liner Trib tells Trump to stop insulting CHI ( most adults refer to it as telling the truth ) and proceeds to insult him. The Tribune sat silent while Lightfoot absolutely trashed the CPD throughout 2020. The state of the department and policing in general, is Lightfoot’s legacy. And of course she winds up in a university gig, teaching “governance”. What a disgrace!

Note to the Trib:

DJT does support the CPD. In fact he even came to Chicago during the Lightfoot administration to speak to the National Convention of Police Chiefs. Lori and Eddie Johnson boycotted him and the convention.

Mark, could I have a future as an investigative reporter for the MSM?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
