Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
“So I ask for those who voted me down, do you feel employers should be forced to keep employing employees who refuse to get vaccinated?” Yes, of course. Except for the overreaching government mandates, why should an employer even have to consider dropping a good and needed employee just on the basis of vaccine status? I don’t think my vaccine status should have anything to do with my employability (or with anything else for that matter). “Who’s going to pay, who’s liable?” Liable for what? I know we live in a very litigious society where we can try to make… Read more »
Looks like I misplaced the post; this was intended for reply to NB-Chicago’s remarks.
Illinois needs an “exorcism” to rid us of the demons that have taken hold of so many. These people are soulless.
Don’t laugh. What grips the far left now running the government is truly some kind of psychological condition. I think a prof in Europe named Desmet is onto something. Read this, particularly the parts about his views, and watch his interview linked therein if you have time. It’s what Desmet calls “mass formation,” a form of hypnosis:http://journalpulp.com/2021/09/22/why-do-so-many-still-believe-dr-mattias-desmet-professor-of-clinical-psychology-at-ghent-university-belgium-gives-an-exceptionally-incisive-explanation/
Desmet is extremely important reading right now.
Complete ‘Red Wave’ in 2022, followed with Nuremburg like trials for Fauci and his many accomplices for their crimes against humanity would be a good first start at exorcism. Fauci is a complete psycopath.
Democrats are a cult, the mask is their latest talisman.
Basically they want to make all of us Mask-Holes.
Anything from the “Scum Times” is worthless on its face. Outhouses should be regularly supplied with the latest editions. Pravda is more believable.
The Sun-Times editorial board is apparently entirely oblivious to why this is so controversial and they seem completely unaware of the scientific debate going on over mandates. Count the errors and stupidities in this piece.
Mark-so somebody could get a job at a nursing home, maybe in a state of Illinois government facility, refuse to get vaccinated by claiming a religious exemption (a law originally intended for a completely different matter) and still keep their job? Who’s going to pay for that? Where would it end?
It ends when patients and potential patients are appropriately given the choice of Monoclonal meds to keep people from getting too sick to treat in the first place.
For me the key to the entire editorial/ aguement, which i agree with, is–“Here’s the bottom line: No workplace mandate forces anyone to be vaccinated against their beliefs. Employees can still refuse. Employers then have a right to kick them off the job.” So I ask for those who voted me down,–do you feel employers should be forced to keep employing employees who refuse to get vaccinated? Who’s going to pay, who’s liable? (Im also a little shocked public sec union owned st is on board with employers having right to fire the those who refuse to get vaccinated)
“do you feel employers should be forced to keep employing employees who refuse to get vaccinated?” Your premise assumes that vaccinated employees present less risk than unvaccinated employees. There is no evidence of this. Any legacy news outlet that says this spreading misinformation. Even the CDC says that the vaccinated still catch coronavirus, still get sick, still die from coronavirus, and all transmit coronavirus at the same rate as vaccinated because they have similar, if not higher viral loads. In some cases it can lessen the severity of the disease for lower risk individuals, with waning efficacy after 2 months… Read more »
Congress is not mandated to get the covid shot.
Illegals rushing America’s borders are not required to get the covid shot.
Illegals rushing the border are not tested for Covid, just let in.
Why should an American citizen be required to take an mRna shot, for no matter what reason they reject the shot!
One of the biggest atrocities imposed upon the people who get covid, by Democrats, is the refusal to give covid sick people viable treatments!
This editorial spreads outright misinformation and lies.
VACCINATION will not end the pandemic. Vaccination DOES NOT provide herd immunity – vaccinated still get sick and still transmit coronavirus. The only group that can provide herd immunity are those with natural immunity because reinfection is extraordinarily rare. The article tows the Biden Admin line that “this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated” with no evidence whatsoever that this is scientifically true.
Quite to the contrary. I can give you all telephone numbers of doctors & nurses working in COVID ICU’s. They will tell you patients are 50/50 vaccinated / unvaccinated.
Why is is that in 2021 so far we have had more cases of COVID that in the whole of 2020?
The vaccines do not work that is why.
Natural herd immunity was the way. Look at Sweden.
Follow the money folks.
SUN TIMES are political. hacks.
“Quite to the contrary.”
We actually agree, I am saying the same thing you are!
