Editorial: Mayor Johnson paints himself in corner by handing teachers paid parental leave – Chicago Sun-Times

"Johnson, a former CPS teacher and paid organizer for the CTU, just continued setting the stage for Chicagoans to be ever more skeptical that he won’t put his former colleagues first by rubber-stamping whatever the union wants. Chicago will be among the few school districts in the country that offer three months paid parental leave when the benefit kicks in during the 2023-24 school year. "

Wait til some Union members figure out how to twist this into 12 weeks of paid leave because they had to watch their sister’s kids for the weekend.

Well unintended consequences or cause followed by effect is never the strong suit of a progressive.

surprisingly good editorial from Suntimes.
But say what!!!—“Meanwhile, the sick pay policy for Chicago police allows them to take up to 365 days off every two years.”
—Does any other city in USA give this many days off? Why are these # of allowed days off never discussed in relation to crime or police staffing shortage?
