Editorial: Two weeks and too many bodies on the streets. Please reinstate ShotSpotter, Mayor Brandon Johnson. – Chicago Tribune*

"As Ald. Scott rightly said during the last City Council debate before ShotSpotter went away, 'You can’t put a life over a campaign promise.' There was ample room for Johnson to pivot, given the compelling information we have now on ShotSpotter’s benefits that wasn’t available during the campaign."

As the bodies pile up. Per this Defender article/ interview (https://chicagodefender.com/qa-part-2-deputy-mayor-on-what-comes-next-after-shotspotter/), CTU /Brandon’s Deputy Mayor of Community Safety Garien Gatewood doesn’t have a clue on what will replace Shotspotter. He comes off a a total goof. But is leaving Shotspotter tech replacement process to be spearheaded by “senior adviser on community safety” Alyx Goodwin, who seems like another super progressive left activist Kennedy Bartley kid. A lot of sites to google(https://sjiportalproject.com/participant/alyx-goodwin/)

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
