Education union, students call on governor to release higher education funding – Capitol News IL

University students and faculty urged the Illinois Board of Higher Education to press Gov. JB Pritzker to release more than $29 million in funding for state colleges and universities that state lawmakers approved this year but the Pritzker administration is holding back. But the governor’s office does not intend to release the state-approved funding until it sees “stability” on federal education policy coming from Washington.

What exactly does “stability on education from Washington” mean? And why is the legislature budgeting money with the caveat that control of that money is put into one person’s hands? Like a king, Pritzker holds the sole power to release budgeted funds. An example of the loss of democracy that he is always talking about.

These institutions don’t need the money anyway. Maybe re-direct that to fix roads in Southern Illinois…Putz.

JB is withholding education funding in case any failing solar, EV companies or illegals need cash instead.
