It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. So it’s refreshing to see Willie Wilson, a successful businessman and leader of the black community, call for a literacy initiative “with the goal of getting 100% of Black students reading at grade level.”
Fossil fuels will never be eliminated. Wind and solar do not provide the energy needed to power the electric grid. Right now wind and solar provide about 10%. Most gasoline use in by the airlines, diesel by construction and trucking. Load up that first electric powered jumbo jet with the Greenies for a free trip to Paris leaving from O’Hare non stop. I’s never buy a house without gas, especially in this climate. Electricity is not an energy source folks, it is just an inefficient, but convenient, way to transfer energy. Burning the gas in a power plant 100 miles away to cook your turkey with electricity entails a 40% loss compared to burning that same gas locally in your oven. Converting every home to electric will result in burning much more gas. Again, electricity is not a source of energy, it is a lossy conversion of burning some other real source of energy.
