“It is deeply disturbing…that we have leaders in this state that are prepared to defend millionaires and billionaires, and not the people in Austin and not the people in Roseland,” Mayor Brandon Johnson said. “The ultra-rich do not need defending."
Wow- deep blue districts stayed blue! These clowns have nothing to stand on, so, let’s invent an accomplishment.

Brandon, until you relinquish your police duty, your words are nothing other than pure drivel. Well, they will still be worthless, but at least you would be walking the walk a bit…

For the LAST time, corporations don’t pay taxes; the cost of taxes will be paid by employees and customers. I look forward to seeing the corporate communications announcing lower salaries due to unfavorable economic conditions in Chicago.

As a former Illinoisian who moved south decades ago, I’d like to thank y’all for electing leaders like Johnson and Pritzker. Illinois, New York and California have sent a lot of new neighbors and jobs south. Keep up the fine work.

Mayor Johnson is on a roll! I woild like to help. He is overlooking many taxing/revenue generating opportunities. 1) Double the “entertainment zone tax.” Those living/visiting in that zone have plenty of money. 2) Protest Tax. Permits issued to protest should be sold at $50,000 per day. A head tax should be collected at $100 per day per person. Should be taxed like any other entertainment venue. 3) Enter/Exit Chicago fee. Cordon off the entire city. Set up toll booths every 5 miles. $5 per car each way every day.. 4) Grocery tax 2% 5) Public school student tax $500… Read more »

That’s not the case at the moment, though. There are various places there where real estate sales are in a free fall in case you haven’t noticed. As for tomorrow or a year from now, though, who knows?

Did you read the article, sales of mansions
in Chicago set a record. All dem rich folks
selling and taken off. The next shoe to drop will
be,” we’re losing a lot those rich folks”, who
we gona tax now”. Guess who?
Who did those rich folks sell their mansions to? Sounds like the next “rich” guy bought their old place. Rising prices and more buyers than sellers. The corporate head tax is an awful idea but pointing to “sales of mansions” won’t make your desired point. If anything it tells BJ he can get away with more taxes.
Probably sold it to a political animal or one of their friends and pals that the Illinois political elite abundantly lavishes with confiscated taxpayer funds.
Sales of mansions set a record… aaaaand that means somebody bought them. It’s not like those “dem rich folks” locked the doors and just left. Though, for the life of me, I can’t imagine who would want to move into this downward spiral.

What’s even more disturbing is that we have Dems that fight for the right of biological men to beat women senseless in sports and go into women’s locker rooms, and a mayor that removed an effective crime fighting tool, Spot Shotter, to protect his people and replace it with ex- con “ peacekeepers “. But keep your Marxist harping on the wealthy, Panic Attacks. When they all leave as Ken Griffin did, you’ll miss them.

Yeah, sweep…democrats win in Blue states…what a surprise. Pinhead is a con and grifter. Nothing he says is real, honest or meaningful…his words are simply useful to him and his minions to get what he wants.

Please pass the head tax. It will accelerate Chicago’s financial downfall and maybe wake voters up in time to throw Johnson out of office. Let this socialist BS be shown up for what it is. Of course, easy for me to say, now living 800 miles away from IL and Chicago remembering the 60 great years living there. Don’t recognize it now.

You go pinhead. You show them. Genius like yours should be given free reign. Just like intellect like that of Mamdani and his constituents should be indulged. You vote for it, you enjoy what you voted for.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
