Evanston HS rewrites racially-restricted AP math course descriptions after hit with civil rights complaint – Cook County Record

For instance, a course listed as MA0512 Precalculus was listed as being restricted for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students “who identify as Black male.”  MA0515 AP Calculus AB was also listed as restricted to 11th and 12th grade ETHS “students who identify as Black, all genders.” But the course descriptions were revised to now state the classes are “open to all” but is still “intended to support students who identify as” Black or Latinx. The course descriptions appear to have dropped all references to gender.

Curing racial inequality by lowering standards and segregating by race. Problem is anyone can see this is really segregation by competency just so they can label the class “AP”, creating the illusion that a good percentage of the black students are AP level. By removing the Asians and whites from the bell curve, woke genius. When education fails lower the expectations, lower the standards, redefine what “AP” actually means and eliminate the competition.

I identify as black, I identify as 15 years old, and I identify as an Evanston resident so I should apply.

What a ridiculous idea that will do nothing but hurt the minority students who participate. This shows a total lack of understanding of human nature. Can’t they figure out that this class will be known as “the dummy math class” by students and others and anyone in it will be stigmatized.

Wouldn’t ” increasing access ” mean add more classes or at least , leave the door open to all that meet the requirements.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
