Evanston to pay long-term residents to stay? – Evanston Now

The concept, as described in a referral from Ald. Clare Kelly, would supposedly benefit “low and middle income residents,” “both homeowners and renters,” who “are too often forced to leave their homes and Evanston.” She suggests tapping funds provided by Northwestern University for the city’s affordable housing fund, sales tax revenue from Ryan Field events and a share of the real estate transfer tax on homes that sell for over $1 million to fund the new giveaway.

Clare Kelly is one of two decent members of the City Council here (the other is Suffredin). but this is really “out there”… she is usually very grounded, and battles against the airy – rairy “progressive” crap this City Council is pushing on us. But on this, she is dead wrong…

Is it just me or is there a mass insanity event going on every where? Maybe it’s when they rolled out 5G and all this wireless electric and gas meters. Everyone seems to be angry-protesting-wanting more and more something. It could be sunspots or an alien (not the southern border) invasion on the horizon. In the meantime I should make an aluminum foil hat just to be safe.

I really do think there’s a psychological disorder of some kind that has become prevalent, and it’s not as simple as TDS.

That and the USAID money working its way through various NGOs to fund the protests.

Right. And far more than USAID. A monumental, government financed propaganda machine.

Its not insanity, it’s hate. They actually hate you, Deplorable. Understand this and you’ll recognize it everywhere. You need a bullet-proof vest, not a tin foil hat. Political violence among leftists has been a common tactic since they stormed the Bastille in 1789 and liberated an essentially empty prison, which is the perfect metaphor for all leftist politics of the following 250 years. You must understand that the leftist revolutionaries in France went around killing nobles and their families during the Great Fear. Thousands were killed over the course of a couple years, causing approximately 100,000 émigrés to understandably flee… Read more »

To Mark and Debtsor-If you believe in conspiracy theories or at least have an open mind the HAARP program in Alaska is something to consider of why everyone seems to hate each other. Try to watch the show Conspiracy Theories by Jesse Ventura. In Season 1 Episode 1 Ventura is trying to find out if Haarp can be used for mind control. Who knows but the episode was interesting. Also one of his episodes aired round Dec 2010 about the depopulation agenda and he was talking to a woman who says the agenda would most likely be done via a… Read more »

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Priceless. Spending drives the levy which drives people out of town. Now they want to retain people by paying them tax money and one alderman says they’d have to raise Evanstons levy to generate the revenue for this idea, which in turn would drive more people from Evanston. Brilliant. Wait until the three far left trustees on the Oak Park board hear about this.

I used to think Oak Park was the wokest community in IL and one of the top ones in the country. In recent years, Evanston told Oak Park to “eat my dust.”

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
