Expect busy Chicago roads, high Illinois gas prices during Labor Day travel – Illinois Policy

The retail price per gallon averaged $3.49 in Illinois, compared to about $2.85 in Missouri and Iowa, about $3.05 in Wisconsin and $3.29 in Indiana. The difference is taxes, with Illinois charging the nation’s second-highest rate.

Saw gas prices at $3.78 – $3.79 / gallon for 87 Octane driving through Cook and Will Counties today. Crossing the border into Indiana saw $3.12 to $3.35 / gallon for 87 Octane. Up in Milwaukee and Lake Geneva, WI this week saw $2.99 – $3.19 / gallon for 87 Octane.

We made darn sure we filled up outside of Ill-annoy.

Some of the highest road taxes and some of the worst roads. This is how Illinois does everything. Suck it up or leave.

Drove through Illinois this week heading to and from Wisconsin and our home. Saw 294 is all torn up from the old Hinsdale Oasis to O’Hare. Also saw 355 is all torn up from Lake-Cook down past Woodfield Mall. Do they ever finish any of these road construction projects?
