Farewell, Columbus Drive – American Thinker

"Does Ald. (Lamont) Robinson actually believe a street sign bearing Obama’s name is going to change the futures of Chicago’s Black kids, when Obama as president for eight years did not? And does he really believe changing a street sign is going to bring more tourists to Chicago than stopping the senseless crime that plagues the very area the street runs through? "

A new administration with common sense
Will just rename it back to the original
Name. How about LSD back with the song that made it famous.

Because re- naming schools, tearing down statues and changing commercial logos has done so much to repair race relations and helped the black community immensely already, right? Changing the meaning of words, re- writing laws and re- naming public properties are just a few of the many tricks Marxists employ to re- make everything into an image agreeable to them. The “ re- set “ and “ re- imagined “ America Obama promised and Joe and his cohorts are delivering on.

They’re not trying to repair race relations, they don’t care about that. They’re showing you that you’ve been conquered, and the city that your racist ancestors built and named will all be stripped to reflect the values of the new people in charge.

Better it was renamed after chemist Percy Julian, the father of the latex paint industry. My black high school chemistry teacher became principal of a far south side school which he renamed after this brilliant inventor. Too bad I-57 next to the school has tons of rage rage incidents as well as gang shootings. Wonder how many POC even know who Percy Julian is?

Street name changes cost money. Obama should announce that Chicago doesn’t need to name a street after him; the free South Shore neighborhood Park District acreage is sufficient honorarium.

Majority of Chicago’s City Council alderpersons are incapable of meaningful capable governance, so resort to these virtue-signal antics. Never even heard of Alderman Robinson, he a 2nd or 3rd cousin of Michelle?

Robinson believes that the people who built this city were racist pigs. Now that he and his people (in the identitarian sense) are in charge, he’s going to wipe away you and your history and replace it with his own history. But this change from racist white history to celebration of the oppressed black is only temporary and will be short-lived… Read more »

The idea of renaming a wide street that runs through the middle of a park and activists are fighting to remove after Obama amuses me.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
