Federal appeals court weighs constitutionality of Illinois’ assault weapons ban – Capitol News IL

It's a case that is being closely watched throughout the country – and one many believe is almost certain to end up before the U.S. Supreme Court. Both sides’ reliance on a weapon's “common use” was questioned by judges during oral arguments. “It’s very troublesome to have a popularity contest determine a constitutional principle,” Judge Diane Wood said.

Chicago based appellate court so the outcome is not in doubt. Headed to the Supreme Court where the 7th circuit decision will get slapped down as it should.

I predict, with 90% certainty, the 7th Circuit will uphold the gun grabber law. How do I know you ask? It’s quite easy, really. There are three judges on this case. The first, Judge Easterbrook, despite being appointed by President Reagan, has ruled in the past in favor of gun control, writing the opinion allowing the Deerfield Gun Grabber law to stand, and an earlier case in 2009 ( which was overruled by the SCOTUS) that the 2nd Amendment does not apply to the States. It would be interesting to see how many lives they save when the State tries to force Bubba to register his AR-15, and Bubba would rather shoot up the neighborhood defending his property from the stormtroopers. Bubba doesn’t remember seeing the word ‘register’ in the Second Amendment.

Federal judges are confirmed by the judiciary, no campaigning necessary. But Wood is liberal apointed by Clinton, will definitely vote for a gun ban, Brennan is a Trump so will vote against the ban. Easterbrook despite being a Reagan appointee, has a long, long history of voting for gun bans, and has been overturned in the on gun bans. He said the 2nd amendment didn’t apply to states LOL, every other amendment applies to the states, how can the 2nd amendment not apply to states? So 2-1 the 7th Circuit will uphold this law, before it goes to the supreme… Read more »

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. In the end, the local sheriff has a higher authority than State or Federal law enforcement. See also, Bundy ranch 2014.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
