Absenteeism continued to hover well above the pre-pandemic rate of 24 percent in 2019 as Chicago schools continue to struggle to engage students, especially minority and low-income students. That means 1 in 4 CPS student missed 10 percent or more of the school year.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
