Former Chicago Ald. Ed Burke requests commutation, reducing prison sentence – NBC5 (Chicago)

That application is now up for President Donald Trump's administration to grant or deny. It can take months, even years, before a sentence commutation is granted or denied. Currently, the office has 3,978 pending commutation applications and 1,033 pending pardon cases, for a total of 5,011 pending cases.

I would like to see Burke resentenced to serve the longer prison time he should have received for the crimes he was convicted of.
His light sentence stinks to high heaven. That was a Cook County sweetheart deal given out by the Federal judge. Everyone knows it. The judge should also be investigated.

Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time Ed. No commutation for you!

Why not? Every day violent criminals are released for the time served while awaiting trial. If it’s fair enough for DeVonte, it’s fair enough for Ed.

Rather than free Ed, I would prefer locking up DeVonte.
