Four Omicron myths: Dispelling misguided and ‘flat out harmful’ theories about the still dangerous variant — and that part is no myth – Chicago Sun-Times*

As Illinois public health officials on Thursday reported yet another record-high of 7,380 hospitalized COVID patients and the second-worst daily death toll in a year at 142, Cook County Health expert Dr. Mark Loafman urged residents not to buy into the ill-founded sentiment that they might be better off getting themselves infected to boost their natural immunity.

Just as a comparison to Covid deaths I would like to see the daily death rates in Illinois from cancer/heart disease/diabetes complications and other health problems that people die from. Everyday and I mean everyday the Covid death rate is on all news outlets. How many died from cancer or heart disease last Monday? Are the deaths of these people not as important as Covid deaths? Inquiring minds want to know.

Because you’re probably getting paid to sign death certificates for covid. Community medicine specialist?? Ok man. Continue with your unscientific approach. Have a word.

Just keep getting the jabs, keep wearing the masks (because they work), keep wringing your hands and make sure you give those nasty glares to people who don’t trust the government to know what’s best for you. Still waiting on some CDC guidance to exercise, eat healthy, and visit with friends/family. We will only get over this obsession with covid when the news reporters tell us too, or we turn off the television, and start thinking for ourselves. Don’t worry about the unvaxxed, they seem to be doing fine without your concern, and they’re more focused on living life.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
