Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

Come on. Parties at Univ of Chicago? No way. U of C students are robotic mindless rule followers. Their ‘parties’ are via Zoom. University of Chicago is where fun goes to die.
UoC suffers from severe SJW case of “do as I say, not as I do”. SJW stronghold, but also a reliable cog of Chicago Machine with questionable ethics, lots of insider favoritism, and whiff of scandal. Wirepoints should investigate “pay to play” admissions here, because though Singer celebrity-admissions scandal didn’t affect UoC, same shenanigans occur here.
I had the opportunity to attend this school in the 90’s but decided against it specifically because I didn’t want to be stuck in Hyde Park for four years. In retrospect, the degree would have probably been a nice addition to my career, but, not sure I would have made it all four years living down there. And the student population is super geeky too, I would have had difficulty making friends.
