Fritz Kaegi OK’d tax breaks for ‘low-income’ seniors, now demands proof they qualify – Chicago Sun-Times

Among the investigations, Kaegi’s office is now questioning a tax break it granted to Armando Saleh, a City Hall lobbyist who formerly was chief of staff to a Cook County commissioner. Saleh has been getting the senior assessment freeze on two Chicago apartment buildings — even though the break is available only for a senior’s primary residence. And at 54, he’s 11 years too young to qualify.

Why are the properties only ATM machines for the local taxing bodies? What “services” does the property NOT the residents need? Fire and police come to mind. It is the occupants that are being taxed many for services they do not need or want. Like seniors do not need the schools but have to pay for them regardless. Look at the breakdown on your tax bills and see how many itemized bills there are on them. How many do you use or need?
