Garfield Park library gets its own dedicated mental health counselor – WBEZ (Chicago)

The Legler library branch is one of the busiest distribution sites for the overdose-reversing nasal spray Narcan, and it’s one of three library branches where mental health services are offered. Chicago Public Library Commissioner Chris Brown said, “The reality is, we don’t have a built environment for mental health spaces all throughout the city. But we do have 81 libraries in all 77 neighborhoods.”

Hello, Indiana!

So much for a library being a place to read for education or entertainment. It is now a social services center for the enabled that use the facilities to clean up or sleep, when their not being disruptive or, as happened in Joliet, burning the place down.

Gosh, I remember when the public library was a temple of silence like a church in the off hours when services weren’t being conducted and an old biddy would shush you if you were too loud. Old Joe even paid an occasional library fine for an overdue book.

Now they double as a homeless shelter, cooling shelter, warming shelter, opioid treatment center, and mental health counseling center. My 1st girlfriend majored in library science in the 80’s back in Michigan. I don’t remember that she signed onto all this wokery nonsense. I need another Lite beer.

NO NEW GLARUS BEER. DEB CAREY THE OWNER IS A FAR LEFT LIBERAL TURD. SHE SUPPORTS FAR LEFT LIBERAL CANDIDATES IN WI TO KEEP IT BLUE.

I STOPPED DRINKING NEW GLARUS YEARS AGO. There are dozens of other non-liberal owned beer companies in Wisconsin that make much better beer.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
