GOP Plan for Democratic Convention: Bash Chicago as a Mess – Wall Street Journal

Despite Chicago’s many challenges, Mayor Johnson is optimistic about its ability to stage a convention that will showcase what he sees as best about both the city and the Democratic Party. “Chicago was chosen to have the starring role because of our commitment to Democratic values,” Johnson said.

Johnson’s quote “…because of our commitment to Democratic values” is unintentionally quite observant and factually correct. For once, Johnson is accurately depicting current state of Chicago.

Chicago’s gross dysfunction, rampant political corruption, and out-of-control violent street-crime are outcome of current Democratic “woke” values. That “liberal-progressive” Democratic agenda has resulted in a city that barely functions, requires its citizens to be in constant vigilant state of alertness, where car-jackings and muggings commonly occur regardless how careful folks try to be, and public schools fail to competently educate majority of their black/brown students.

This is how they want to live. This is what a progressive utopia looks like and they like what they see. One pundit I listen to said that he too came to this realization after speaking with a lady from Chicago who said that, Yes, crime is terrible, but at least it isn’t the police hunting them down like prey anymore. Which is a completely insane, irrational and nonsensical way to view the world, because not only is it untrue, citizens were never being hunted by the police like prey, their world is now considerably more violent and more dangerous… Read more »

The RNC only read articles from CWB Chicago so that the world can absorb the ‘successes’ of Mayor Pointy Hair and JB the Hutt’s policies.

In my usual “everything is politics in Illinois” thought process Pritzker needs a calming on the streets to further his personal presidential aspirations . He will be parading his “everything is unicorns and rainbows” in Illinois and how he is responsible for all of it. The last thing he needs is civil unrest on the streets that would provide a window into the reality that all is not well in Illinois. As a preventative Pritzker then could take an “all the kings horses and all the kings men” approach and blanket the area with every State law enforcement official to… Read more »

All the Chicago police should quit the day of this communist evil event, the democrat party that hates the police. Let the community organizers and rainbow psychos keep the peace.

Yes, I agree, the convention will be a nothing burger, and few media outlets will even bother to cover what minor events transgress. Then they can shout, “See! Republicans are fearmongers!” However, I don’t think Democrats really quite understand that “Chicago” is a decades long running joke, and that Republicans see Chicago much, much differently than Democrats see Chicago. Turn on any conservative radio or tv or ready any conservative print and Chicago has been their whipping boy for at least a generation now. So much so that anyone who even leans right outright rejects relocating to Chicago- which as… Read more »

I expect zero police to be used to secure this communist evil event, only unarmed community organizers. Because for one the democrats hate police and think they are racists. All cops asking to be babysitters during this event to babysit the criminals, you should immediately resign and move to a red state that would appreciate you. Let the libtards get what they demand, no police.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
