Democratic incumbent Gov. JB Pritzker officially announced his run for a third term as the state’s chief executive Thursday with a campaign video vowing “to protect our progress and continue solving the problems we face” — namely those imposed on Illinois by President Donald Trump, according to the billionaire Democrat.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Indirectly, it certainly does. A major impediment to getting good would-be opposition candidates is that they won’t be able to do anything because Dems have a supermajority in legislature.

i understand the vitriol levied against Priztzker but what makes no sense is how these same people continue to support Trump. anyone who believes that Donald cares about anything except his own personal interests is deluded beyond belief.

Well, one could say Donald Trump is the worst possible president, except for the people running against him (Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris). Yep, despite us having the highest or among the highest taxes and fees in the country, he has other wondrous things planned for us like a progressive income tax and a VMT.
Illinois and its municipalities and counties continue to lose citizens to other states because of mismanaged and irresponsible governance. The loss has been somewhat hidden by the large influx of illegal immigrants.
Relatedly, starting next year, Michigan won’t be taxing retirement income.
