Gov. Pritzker signs retail theft crime bill – WGNTV (Chicago)

For the first time the law defines organized retail crime in the state and it is a felony. It also eliminates a jurisdictional issue for prosecutors, such as when a theft happens in one county and the items are sold in another. Online market places will also be required to collect and verify the identity of people trying to sell a lot of items at once.

Kim Foxx, Cook County state’s attorney, is already ignoring state law regarding the charging of people with crimes they have been arrested for. Citing prosecutorial discretion she can have her staff ignore current and future laws without fear of any consequences. All in the name of restorative justice. Now if you say anything negative y’all racissss and stuff.

It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. So it’s refreshing to see Willie Wilson, a successful businessman and leader of the black community, call for a literacy initiative “with the goal of getting 100% of Black students reading at grade level.”
