ILLINOIS HAS 1,430 UNITS OF TOWNSHIP GOVERNMENT, THEY SHOULD ALL BE INVESTIGATED! ILLINOIS IS ONE OF THE FEW STATES THAT STILL HAVE TOWNSHIP GOVERNMENT AS WELL AS 17 OF THE STATE’S COUNTIES. IT’S TIME TO GET RID OF TOWNSHIP GOVERMENT, A TAX WASTE!
School districts as well, WAY to many with one or two schools.
Don’t need another Elgin or Chicago but we need to do some consolidation on schools where the administrative overhead is so high. Schools/Teachers won’t change but theres a lot of overhead that needs to go.
Townships would certain help but $7,000 of my $10,000 tax bill goes to the elementary school, the high school and the community college.
Yet, in general when district consolidations seek the local voters to agree to it they don’t. Everyone seems to prefer “local” schools while simultaneously complaining about high property taxes. Seems to be a vote appealing to oxy morons.
What referendums exactly do you mean?
