Governor Pritzker criticizes proposed SNAP cuts during Springfield visit – WICS (Springfield)

In Illinois, an estimated 427,000 residents would be at risk of losing SNAP benefits; Over 1.8 million (about 16 percent) of Illinois residents rely on SNAP. Of the 1 million households receiving benefits, 45 percent have children; 37 percent have older adults; 44 percent have a person with a disability, and 83 percent have an individual who is actively working.

Pritzker is good at criticizing. One day he should look in the mirror and do a self appraisal.. Illinois is a disaster!

Another gift to us from the Illinois media. Start off with a mention of possible “at risk” of losing benefits with no detail of why this might happen then shift gears to the emotional side including the old standby “children, disabled, and elderly” with not one iota of linkage regarding whether the cuts would affect these people or not. Even if the cuts did affect these people the number one item purchased with food stamps is soda and quite frankly maybe soda needs to be cut from diets along with all the assorted other junk food covered by the snap… Read more »

Oh, man! Unless ( as I suspect) these cuts are in mainly rural areas, look out! So much for the reduction in crime.
