Governor signs bill aimed at reducing health care inequities statewide – Chicago Sun-Times*

The money is aimed primarily at hospitals and clinics in poorer neighborhoods and regions of the state, as well as those areas hardest hit by the pandemic. It’s expected to be used to set up and pay for programs that might, for example, help educate people about the importance of healthy eating in communities struggling with obesity.

Equity over equality is the JB Pritzker way.

The only cure for any problem is more money from us. A Democrat told me that!

Don’t know how Pritzker can “mandate” health care that guarantees good health. Hmm. Grossly obese governor, likely diabetic with other comorbidities, wants to “legislate against systemic racism in healthcare which causes inequities that cause poor health in low-income communities of color”??? People have choice. Government can’t nanny-state people into good habits and prudent life choices. Look at our wealthy governor, who grew-up in a household able to afford and access the “best of best of best” of health care, food, education, housing et al. And yet JB Pritzker is obese. He needs to acknowledge his own personal choices here, to… Read more »

Remember when the soda tax was marketed as a health issue, then we found out SNAP purchases were exempt from the soda tax, thereby eliminating the unhealthiest group the tax was purported to help?

Eat healthy? Simply limit items that can be purchased with food stamps might make a good start.

Pritzker can’t do that, he’s pandering to the permanent victim class.

Perhaps those communities should stop having giant house parties, before the tax payers start handing them hundreds of Millions of dollars in free healthcare.

Are black and brown communities disproportionately obese which is labeled an inequity so the solution is to re-educate how to eat healthy (they already teach that in the public schools).

“It’s expected to be used to set up and pay for programs that might, for example, help educate people about the importance of healthy eating in communities struggling with obesity.”

Anyways this is Senate Bill 1510 (SB 1510) which was signed into law as Public Act 101-0655 (PA 101-0655) by Governor Pritzker on March 12, 2021.

Yet JB is right there among them and he’s eaten a billion shares of ‘equity’.

The permanent victim class must change their lifestyle of flaming hot Cheetos, grape pop, fast food, alcohol and drug use, no exercise, and a high fat no vegetables diet. I’m so sick of hearing about disparity, equality and equity. It’s just pandering for votes by the dummycrat party.

JB is really over compensating on this stuff already. Where was he the first 53 years of his life?

Prediction: Bill aimed at reducing health disparities will not achieve the desired result. I may be going out on a limb here, but I’ll take my chances.

I think you are correct, but it will provide jobs with fat paychecks for the friends and family club.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
