Green energy: Illinois candidates differ on timeline – State Journal-Register (Springfield)

Wind turbines with the 302-MW Lincoln Land Wind project along Old State Road west of Berlin on Aug. 23, 2021. [Justin L. Fowler/The State Journal-Register] Perhaps in a rare moment of holding the same view, Democratic and Republican gubernatorial and U.S. Senate candidates spoke highly of the future of green energy. Where candidates differed was the timeline.

This “Green” Agenda is as big of a hoax as COVID. Do not Fall for it. They are using it to cover for the fact that they have stolen the wealth of this country and do not want to be held accountable for it and to CONTROL us.

This is so stupid. There is only ONE solution and it is Nuclear Power. Windmills only work 45% of the time at best. Solar panels only work 40% of the time (that danged sunrise/sunset thing plus both ends of twilight and clouds). There never will be a battery system that stores enough energy for realistic mass use. The ignorance and ignoring of the basic laws of physics makes this all so appalling and infuriating. Fail-safe nuclear power has existed since the late 1970’s (when Jimmy Carter eliminated federal funding). Chernobyl was bad 1940’s technology. Three mile island was bad 1950’s… Read more »

The good news is nuclear may be making a comeback. Japan is considering building next generation nuclear plants and Germany is seriously considering putting on hold the closing of the last 3 nuclear power plants. The best answer to lowering carbon emissions is nuclear and maybe we are heading in that direction.

Duckworth is so stupid and out of touch that she actually brought up fighting wars for oil, conveniently ignoring that just a few short years ago the US was a net exporter of oil! The US would still be a net exporter if it weren’t for the Biden administration’s failed, ruinous policies. Durbin and Duckworth are really Senators Dumb & Dumber. If all these green energy schemes are so great, why not remove all the government subsidies and let the market decide? If green energy is superior it will eclipse other energy sources in the market. Hint: It won’t. FYI,… Read more »

Fine and dandy to talk about the potential benefits. But how about two huge negatives. First, wind turbines are a blight on the countryside. Just take a drive through north central Indiana near one of the largest wind farms in the US. Ugly. Ugly Ugly. And second, the useful life of these monsters is about 25 years. Most turbine operations are owned by thinly capitalized startups or spinoffs of big utility companies. There is generally no provision for taking the eyesores down when there useful life has passed. Guaranteed– when they are obsolete the owners will disappear or file BK,… Read more »

Old Spartan, you are correct.
That Indiana wind farm is a blight on the landscape.
These wind farms kill large numbers of birds everyday.
Those giant fan blades are not recyclable and end up in landfills.
