Group of Illinois Sheriffs Say Departments Will Not Comply With Assault Weapon Registration Requirements – NBC5 (Chicago)

McHenry County Sheriff Robb Tadelman said was one of numerous law enforcement officials throughout the state who shared messages on social media in the aftermath of the bill’s passage. Their arguments center around their stance that the bill, which makes it illegal for Illinois residents to purchase, transfer or manufacture assault weapons and extended magazines, violates the Second Amendment.

Time to drain the swamp … 18 U.S. Code § 241 – Conspiracy against rights “If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any… Read more »

It’s 18 U.S. Code § 242 – Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.

242 applies to a single person, 241 applies to more than one person acting together. In this case, either could be used depending on how the suit was written.

If JB is expert at anything, it’s his personal understanding of being “in violation of oath of office.” Law enforcement serve and protect and politicians are charged to serve the best interest of their constituents. The way JB and his cohort are dragging down this once great state seems very much “in violation of their oath of office.” This knee jerk law will not stop mass shootings, a frequent occurrence with handguns in Chicago streets. Mass shootings are a symptom of something far greater. Criminals don’t follow the law – law-abiding citizens do. This law is just the beginning of… Read more »

Why should government employees obey the laws of the State. All government employees make up their own rules and laws. #1- Rule is cheat the taxpayer whenever you can.

So, Pritzker & the progressive-n-woke et al can decide that Illinois is a “sanctuary state” for illegal aliens, and that it’s OK for them to ignore Federal immigration laws, but it’s intolerable for Illinois counties and sheriffs to decide they’re going to become 2nd Amendment sanctuaries, and ignore Pritzker. This gun ban, combined with the SAFE T Act (Safety Act – what an oxymoron) pretty much makes it plain that criminals who don’t-n-won’t follow ANY firearms laws continue to do what they want without consequence in Illinois, while law abiding gun owners knuckle under or go to jail. I’m looking… Read more »

They will line up as required and herded into the showers. Those democrat voters who chose the state government in Illinois deserve to be treated that way.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
